Agloe: Paper Town

"The town was paper, but the memories were not." -- John Greene, Paper Towns

It's there. Right in the heart of Roscoe. Do you know how it all started? Mapmakers. One would copy another. So in order to protect their work and its authenticity, they would add in a paper town of their own making so when another mapmaker copied their map, their secret stamp would be there for all to see. In this case: Agloe. The town, hamlet actually, was invented in 1937 by two such mapmakers. It was copied so often that it took hold. A general store and a few houses, now gone, cropped up there. Agloe was then resurrected in the novel Paper Towns by John Greene when his protagonist takes to hiding there. It's a great destination read. So, pick it up before you go.

It exists only because it does not. So, get out your pushpin and go find it.
